Thoddoo
As a large agricultural island, Thoddoo provides the capital and other islands with fruit and vegetables. Locals mostly engage in agriculture, so not only does the island shine with transparent, clear water and pearly white beaches, but also with lush greenery at fruit plantations, tropical fruit growing virtually everywhere and palm forests providing a respite from the concrete metropolises of the day. Thoddoo has a beautiful desert-like beach that stretches for two kilometers. It’s the greatest bikini-OK beach of the local islands of the Northern Ari Atoll.
In Thoddoo guests can fully enjoy a getaway far off from any civilization and to acquaint themselves with the local lifestyle. The tiny uninhabited island of Madivaru, along with its sandbank, lies close by Thoddoo island. You can go to Madivaru for swimming and rest.
Coral reefs surround Thoddoo and as such it’s a perfect snorkeling and diving spot. Here you’ll find mantas, rays, dolphins, sea turtles and other underwater creatures.
Thoddoo island is connected with Male with a regular ferry transfer, which takes about four hours, and speedboats, which take about an hour and a half.
